I need a Screen Saver?
Being out of work I have been hitting the computers with the Internets pretty hard. Well, I was hitting them so hard that my ACER AL1916 LCD monitor, which I have had for under a year and I have not really given a good work out, was showing signs of a burn-in. The Google logo in my Firefox toolbar was being permanently etched on the screen. For a moment it was cool to have a Google branded monitor. By hey! What? It is 2007, right? This is supposed to be a thing of the past and screen savers are a quaint relic that is not necessary because our modern day monitors are so advanced. Right?Good Lord, tell me it ain't so.
Long story short - I was able to remove the burn in effects by creating an all white image in Photoshop and filling the screen with this image for about an hour. I have now turned on a Mac OS X screen-saver after I have not been on my system for 5 minutes so this incident does not repeat itself. Live and learn.
They way things are going around here, I expect the parallel printer port to make a comeback.
