iPods! Get yer iPods here! -OR- This old iPod

Apple came out with some new iPods today, which I would be a fool to outline here because if you really cared, you already followed the keynote and pre-ordered. Go to the Apple store and bask in all the wonderful shininess, if you must.

Ok, now that you are back, I want you to do an exercise with me (I'll be doing this while I type with one hand. See? I can. Alright.) If you already own an iPod hold it in your hand and think about how long you've owned it. Try to remember the first day you picked it up at the store or got it in the mail and opened the box with all minimalist packaging and pretty fonts. And then you saw it for the first time - your iPod. This was YOUR iPod. Now, go back and think of the accessories you purchased for your iPod which allowed you to listen in the car, on your bike, sitting around or what have you. If you have a Photo iPod, think of the times when you were able to pull up that special photo you wanted to show to someone. If you have a iPod with Video, think of all the times you watched videos on it because that was the most convenient way to watch. And the music, your entire collection, it happily goes with you, carrying around YOUR music you are proud of, and not telling anyone that you still sneak a listen to Milli Vanilli or what ever pop your beatnik friends would shun. It has been with you and entertained you for some time. Your iPod has become a part of you.
