Hey Guys

For some reason I have to select "No" for NAT Traversal. So I don't use the STUN server with my gizmo setup.

This was something the tech guy at Grandstream suggested & now it finally works! I have no idea why but maybe it has something to do with the fact that I am in the Caribbean and I'm using an HT-486 which only updates to firmware version 1.0.6.7.

Ok. I am not being condescending by asking this: Is the cordless phone power plugged in the wall and is the battery in the handset charged - because it seems, somehow, it is not pushing out tones to the G.S. 286.

If you can grab a spare wired phone (from anywhere) and give that a try with the device. This may solve most of your problems (oh, it would be shame if you had to buy one - borrow if you can).

Test your wireless phone with a land line if you have one available, as well, to weed this out if it is the issue.

I used a wireless phone to completely configure the phone. It only gives you the dial tone after you have a SIP connection, but the configuration '02' step can be done without the tone.

Thanks for your information. I have what I guess is a stupid question. I am trying to configure this device right out of the box. One of the first steps is pick up the handset and dial 0 2. OK fine. But I have a cordless phone. I cant dial anything. Do I need to go buy a hardwired land line telephone just to get this thing off the ground? It seems like it. but it also seems that the instructions would have mentioned that right up front in the directions. I don't know, maybe I am just an idiot. Thanks!

It is still working well for me. The firmware upgrades have improved the DTMF functionality to where it works with any "Press one for Engligh" auto call-center type calls.

If you are using the STUN server with the Gizmo service, your firewall should, theoretically, not be an issue (unless you are directly mapping the same ports that the 286 uses.)

I have seen weirdness happen if you are running the Gizmo computer program on the same network at the same time as the Grandstram 286.

A good test would be to plug it directly into the your incoming connection and not use the firewall at all to see if it still works for you - telling you if the firewall is having an effect.

If it still does not work, you may want to trudge through a full reset.

Hi -- Thanks for the great writeup. Everything was working with Gizmo and the HT 286 up until like today. And of course, I did some things to my firewall, like open it up so that my XBox could connect to XBox live.

I wonder if I mucked it up, or if it did a new firmware autoupgrade that messed it up.

How's your HT286 working now?

There are two things that have changed since this post. I have updated my firmware to version 1.1.0.3. Get it here.

Also, it works for me to select ALL "Send DTMF" settings ("in-audio" AND "via RTP (RFC2833)" AND "via SIP INFO.") I do not know if this is right thing to do, but it works.

Try changing the settings first, then dive into the firmware upgrade. Warning: The firmware upgrade is a little weird.

Hi I am unable to receive calls from grandcentral on my ht 286. i set up exactly as u said but still when i press 1 it doesnt go through..do u have any solution? thanks praveen
